French Open Finals

French Open 2009 witnessed one of the most brilliant semi finals in mens singles yesterday with 2 marathons being played by the best tennis players. The first match between Gonzales (Chile) and Soderling (Sweden) went to a decisive 5th set. The first 2 sets wentto soderling and the next 2 went to Gonzales. The 5th set had all the drama when Gonzales led 3-0. Then bounced bak Mr. Soderling to take the 5th set 6-4 thereby booking a berth in his first ever French Open finals.

The second match was between the 6'6" tall Argentenian Del Potro and the Swiss maestro Roger Federer. This was the most brilliant semi finals in couple of years. This was also a dramatic 5-setter. Potro's service was lightning fast at around 210 kmph for which Roger had no answer. Some how he found his way back and leveled at 2 sets a piece. Then came the decisive set where Roger broke earlier to lead 3-1. Then Potro broke back again to level at 3-3. Roger broke again to win the match.

Sunday will determine if Roger would level Pete's record of 14 Grand Slams and most importantly the eluding French Open. But one thing is for sure. We are in for a great treat.

NOTE
Bjorn Borg has tipped Soderling to take the French Open this time. Can Roger prove him wrong ???
